Earlier this year, a freak windstorm hit Nanchang, China. While there was much destruction caused by the storm, some of the most shocking videos of the event came from a high-rise that was hit particularly hard by winds, breaking windows and even pulling some people out of their homes.

While the latter wasn’t captured on video, plenty of other incidents from the storm were, including gaping holes in walls and mangled window frames. No one is sure why the building couldn’t handle the storm, but Chinese social media soon became filled with allegations that the buildings themselves weren’t exactly constructed to the highest standard.

Seeing these videos, I think the people saying that might be right.
